They have a good collection of stuff. I've been to really sleek and hip dispensaries and those are easy on the eyes, but I don't find the bud to be any different in quality thank from here. Plus, this dispensary is nowhere near dirty or anything. It's just that compared to the super sleek hipster ones, this one looks kinda basic. But I don't mind or care. I saw on leafly or something that people said the bud here is moldy - that's never happened to me ever. Ever ever. One time though I did find a G of bubble yum recently that was legit like almost an entire year old. I opened it up and it def was not as dank as it once was, but it was literally somehow chillin lost in a bottom cabinet. For nearly an entire year. Breaking down the weed I noticed a white kind of fuzzy substance - not a whole whole lot but still somewhat noticeable. I was kinda like fuck it and smoked it anyways and it definitely took me longer to get where I wanted to be but I didn't feel any chest pain or tons of coughing - basically was just old weed. So maybe it was mold but I have pretty sensitive allergies and shit and if it was I feel like I would have felt died lol.

With the success of the pneumonia care pathway, Flagler Hospital leaders also deployed a new sepsis pathway. The hospital has expanded its plans for using Ayasdi to develop new care pathways, from the original plan of tackling 12 conditions over three years, to now tackling one condition per month. Future plans are to tackle heart failure, total hip replacement, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), hysterectomy and diabetes, among other conditions. Flagler Hospital expects to save at least $20 million from this program in the next three years, according to officials.
The AI application uncovered relationships and patterns that physicians either would not have identified or would have taken much longer to identify, Sanders says. For instance, the analysis revealed that for patients with pneumonia and COPD, beginning nebulizer treatments early in their hospital stays improved outcomes tremendously, hospital leaders report.
Baran says that although automation of repetitive tasks is the ultimate goal, the first step in automation is delegation. “That means shifting the work from physician to staff and using technology to make that process as easy as possible. For the physicians it looks like automation because you are taking this work off their plates, and we use technology to make the process as easy as possible for the staff.”
Scanning the exhibit floor on Monday, Glenn Galloway, CIO of the Center for Diagnostic Imaging, an ambulatory imaging center in the Minneapolis suburb of St. Louis Park, Minn., noted that “There’s a lot of focus on AI this year. We’re still trying to figure out exactly what it is; I think a lot of people are doing the same, with AI.” In terms of whether what’s being pitched is authentic solutions, vaporware, or something in between, Galloway said, “I think it’s all that. I think there will be some solutions that live and survive. There are some interesting concepts of how to deliver it. We’ve been talking to a few folks. But the successful solutions are going to be very focused; not just AI for a lung, but for a lung and some very specific diagnoses, for example.” And what will be most useful? According to Galloway, “Two things: AI for the workflow and the quality. And there’ll be some interesting things for what it will do for the quality and the workflow.”
Might next year prove to be different? Yes, absolutely, especially given the coming mandates coming out of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA), which will require referring providers to consult appropriate use criteria (AUC) prior to ordering advanced diagnostic imaging services—CT, MR, nuclear medicine and PET—for Medicare patients. The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will progress with a phased rollout of the CDS mandate, as the American College of Radiology (ACR) explains on its website, with voluntary reporting of the use of AUC taking place until December 2019, and mandatory reporting beginning in January 2020.
So much remains ambiguous about the regulated future of legalized pot in California, even more so in the Central Valley. As some cities are still waiting to make their final decision, others have banned it outright, and Fresno is soon to embark on the unique challenge of writing new policies for medical marijuana businesses, from growing all the way to sales – but one thing is clear, and that it is going to make for a busy yet very interesting 2018.
Applicants must comply with the insurance requirements in Title 5 of the Hesperia Municipal Code Chapter 5.50.100(F).

For many the idea of a strain with a 1:1 ratio of THC and CBD may sound ridiculous, but growers strove to achieve this in their strain Cannatonic. Their final product ended up being a 50/50 hybrid strain that barely achieved a THC percentage higher than 6 percent, however, it’s CBD content tested between 6 and 17 percent. Great for those that need pain relief in the morning or afternoon, the strain may also calm muscle spasms, migraines and headaches. It may calm nausea, anxiety, stress and mood disorders.

As a young adult, I was in a very serious car accident. I broke a lot of bones — my second vertebrae, my neck, ribs, a compound fracture in my leg... It’s a miracle I’m not a quadriplegic. I was on a respirator and couldn’t breathe because there was fluid between my lung and ribcage. I couldn’t move because I had this thing holding up my head. A nurse around every few hours to help me cough so I wouldn’t get pneumonia. Eventually after getting off the respirator, one nurse came around and he mentioned cannabis. He said, “Did you know cannabis does the same type of thing to your lungs? It’s a bronchial dilator. The drug I’m pumping into your lungs is a bronchial dilator.” From that point on I realized I had a choice. I never took another pain pill. I just used cannabis for the next eleven months to recover. I always loved cannabis, but now I had an even more personal connection to the plant.
Similar results have been experienced across the country. “Collective Medical has been an integral part of our hospital system’s efforts to coordinate care for patients with complex needs,” says Dr. Maria Raven, MPH, MSc, a practicing emergency medicine physician and health services researcher and an associate professor of emergency medicine at UCSF. “With our partnership, we’re collaborating on our at-risk patients’ social determinants as well as curbing the opioid epidemic.”
The survey from one year ago found that across hospitals, 40 percent of CIO respondents said deploying an enterprise analytics platform is a top priority in 2018. Seventy-one percent of respondents cited integrating with the EHR is a top priority, and 62 percent said physician adoption and buy-in for securing messaging was a top priority in the next 18 months. What’s more, 38 percent said optimizing EHR integration with other hospital systems with a key focus for 2018.

Google, Facebook and Twitter all have advertising policies that restrict the promotion of the sale of cannabis. Google’s policy prohibits ads that promote “substances that alter mental state for the purpose of recreation.” Facebook restricts any “illegal, prescription, or recreational drugs.” And Twitter bans “illegal drugs” as well as substances that cause “legal highs.” Instagram and Facebook have decided to go a step further by removing pages of cannabis related businesses.
Our goal now is to invest in the platform and to grow networks. Building network effect-enabled platforms is capital intensive because you need to reach critical density in a given geography to create value for the constituents there. We’ve done a pretty good job of that. We’re live in 17 states, not just with one or two hospitals, but penetrated broadly to 100 percent of acute hospitals. We’ve got a bunch more in the hopper.

Collective Medical improves outcomes and lowers costs on an impressive scale. In a Brookings Institution review of Medicaid patients who visited emergency rooms in Washington State, Collective Medical’s network and EDIE application—allowing actionable, real-time coordination across organizations—was one of the core strategies for lowering the number of ED visits by patients with patterns of high ED utilization. By partnering with Collective Medical to focus on these patients, Washington State reported $34 million in savings in emergency costs and a decline of 9.9 percent in emergency department visits in its first year of use in 2013.

Looking back, Klomp sees a huge element of luck in their success story. “We work hard and try to be smart, but entrepreneurs chronically underestimate how much they get lucky or kind breaks from others,” he says. “I look back at the people willing to take a chance on a couple of unsophisticated kids from BYU who didn’t know a lot about healthcare but were trying to solve one of our mom’s problems. They gave us a chance and indulged us when we made mistakes. You look at Washington and it was just a stroke of luck.”
Meanwhile, with regard to the new form of AI, and the inevitable hype cycle around emerging technologies, Dr. Chang said during his presentation that “When you’re going up the ride, you get excited. But then right at the top, before you are about to go down, you have that moment of clarity—‘What am I getting myself into?’—and that’s where we are now. We are upon that crest of magical hype and we are about to get the trench of disillusionment.” Still, he told his audience, “It is worth the rollercoaster of hype. But I’m here to tell you that it’s going to take longer than you think.”

“We had a guillotine over our head,” says Stephen Anderson, an emergency medicine doctor at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, which operates eight hospitals in and around Tacoma and Spokane, Washington. Hospitals pleaded for their own solution. “[We said] instead of blocking access, let us coordinate care of high utilizers.” The governor gave them three months.

Next, Providence drove usage across its five-state system, and Oregon adopted it. “All of a sudden, the world caught up as healthcare started paying for quality instead of just volume,” Klomp says. Growth was slow and methodical as the co-founders sought to understand clinical workflows. “We worked to get real demonstrable outcomes from a clinical and economic perspective,” he adds. “We are pretty conservative. This is a different story than raise a whole bunch of money and try to grow the business fast.”

In 2006, they tried to launch the solution as a company, but there were no customers. “No one was willing to take a chance,” Klomp recalls. “Total crickets.” So all three founders went on to other jobs. Klomp went to work for Bain & Co. But the website for the startup was still up, and in 2009 they were contacted by a hospital in Spokane, Wash., that was trying to do work in the high-utilizer space and couldn’t find any other solutions. So the three old friends from Boise resurrected the company.

The guys didn’t want to go work for “the man.” Patti, who is a pretty intimidating and awesome lady, told them to “build a computer program” for what she was doing in a circulated Word document and they did. They won a couple of business plan competitions and decide to take it out to the world. It took a lot of years and a lot of bootstrapping, but off we went.

Mitigating the opioid epidemic is a single but timely demonstration of the power of the Collective Medical network. Using the company’s partnership with Washington State as an example, care team collaboration and coordination through Collective Medical has reduced opioid prescriptions coming out of the ED by 24 percent since the program’s inception.

Feeling achy? Hit the massage table. At E-motion Sports Massage in Everett, clients can loosen up with a cannabis-infused ointment that many say boosts the impact of the treatment. Massage therapists use a cream infused with cannabinoids, compounds derived from the cannabis plant. They don’t cause a high, but they do have powerful anti-inflammatory and pain-killing effects, says E-motion owner Mercedes Diaz. And because the cream reduces pain, she says, therapists can work muscles more intensively — and effectively. “It is really great for muscle and joint pain, arthritis, sprains, strains,” Diaz says. “With cannabis, we can get in there and do so much more.” The ointment comes in different concentrations, so therapists can choose the right one for each patient’s needs. E-motion offers cannabis cream as a $25 upgrade to any of its regular massage services, which run $100 to $120.

They found Collective Medical Technologies, a little company from Salt Lake City, Utah, belonging to Adam Green and Wylie van den Akker, childhood friends from Boise, Idaho. Between school and daytime jobs, they had managed to sell their software to 35% of hospitals in Washington. Emergency doctors raved about it and pushed for its adoption. The governor gave the go-ahead, but all 98 hospitals in the state had to comply. To be effective, they had to share patient information. “The value of the network is in participants,” says Chris Klomp, CEO of Collective Medical, and a childhood friend of the founders.
“I do have mixed feelings about medical marijuana, I really do. And I can tell you that my feelings have changed over the years after listening to some of the stories that have been told here, from the individuals I’ve talked to and I do believe that there are individuals out there that have a legitimate need for medicinal marijuana [and] I support that, I really do,” he stated during the 12/14 City Council meeting.
